Sunday we went to Amicalola Falls State Park about 45 minutes away. It is a beautiful waterfall with a good trail to the top. The "hike" involves about a 1/2 trail followed by 600 metal steps to the top. We had an awesome time and the kids had a blast. Emma and Geneva walked the entire way...ok, some of the time they were running. Jackson walked over 1/2 and even Maddox walked about 1/3 of it. Our Kelty Carrier is in storage somewhere so when Jack and Maddox weren't walking, we were carrying them.
It provided some much-needed exercise. At the top, we let the kids "wade" in the creek...needless to say, they hiked down soaking wet and caked with red Georgia clay. Supposedly, the Home Depots around here carry a "Georgia Red Clay Remover." If not, we will have some new painting clothes...however, it was all worth it hearing all the laughter. In fact, even after 3 hours at the pool today, Jack's toenails are still stained a rusty red color...that is some powerful mud.
The girls on the second 1/2 of the uphill portion.
